The pathway
we're building

These are plans, not promises. Each step depends on enough players, venues, affiliation and County FA approval, and will be adapted by age.

  1. Development games

Games within each location. Festivals and fun events for younger players.

    Planned

  2. Inter-location fixtures

    Friendly fixtures between TFA locations.

    Planned

  3. Leagues & TFA tournament

For eligible older age groups, location league winners meet in a TFA tournament.

    Planned

  4. Wider competitions

Where suitable, selected teams enter grassroots and development competitions.

    Planned

A clear pathway for every player

Joining TFA guarantees a place on our coaching and development pathway, with support to build skills, confidence and teamwork. As we grow, we plan to introduce internal leagues, fixtures between TFA locations and external tournaments, alongside opportunities to be seen by invited scouts and clubs. Each player’s next steps will reflect their readiness, interests and available opportunities.

By age

Ages 4–6: play, development activities and, where permitted, festivals or fun events. No leagues, results tables or qualification.

Older age groups: development games first. Leagues within a location and a TFA tournament are planned only for eligible older age groups, checked with the County FA and adapted by age.

What it depends on

  • Enough players in each age group
  • More than one TFA location being open
  • Affiliation and County FA approval
  • Suitable facilities
  • Competition approval

Membership is for coaching. Any future competitive-player registration or other specialist agreement would be handled separately, under the appropriate football rules.
